Study in Canada Part 3: How to find the right course/school?

There are about 280 post-secondary institutions in Canada. These universities and colleges offer many courses for all different levels of post-secondary education such as PhD, Masters, Degree, Diploma and Post-secondary certificates. Given the huge selection, choosing the right school/course is usually one of the biggest challenges in the pre-study part of your study in Canada plan. There are many options out there and there is no school/course that is perfect for everyone.

To help you find the right course, you will need to figure out what is most important to you:

  • Interests

  • Future Career Prospects

  • School Ranking

  • Budget

  • Facilities

  • Location

  • Courses

  • Admission Procedure

Shortlist a few schools/courses that meet your priorities.

Go through your shortlist and evaluate them

  • Pros and Cons

  • What do students/graduates say about them

  • School Ranking

Our recommendation is to do your research early. If you are looking at next September’s admission, you should start doing your research by this September. Admission to popular courses and schools tend to be very competitive and it helps to submit your application way before the application deadline as many schools practise early and rolling admissions.
